Allison McCarty, MSW, LCSW
(she/her/hers)
I believe wholeheartedly that we each possess a natural wisdom within; that we are each the experts of our own experiences. But sometimes we can become stuck in patterns that we don’t know how to change. These patterns are often exacerbated by depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, loneliness, or relationship issues. As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and somatic based therapist, it is a privilege and a joy to help my clients tap into their innate ability to heal. I approach each session with a grounded presence and a genuine curiosity as we navigate together the changes you would like to make.
I have been trained through the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute . Somatic Experiencing is a body oriented approach to restoring balance back to the nervous system after trauma. This gentle approach can help you to increase your tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and emotions that can be common with PTSD and early developmental attachment wounds.
When working with me you can expect connectedness, deep listening, and the occasional sense of humor. A few areas of my particular expertise and experience include: coping with chronic illness, caregiving, pregnancy, parenting, addressing infertility, and body image issues from a Health at Every Size (HAES) lens.
If this resonates with you I would welcome the opportunity to connect to discuss how we may work together.
